Voting for by-elections in Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies will be held from June 30

Jaipur, June 27. By-elections are being conducted by the State Election Commission for the posts that fell vacant in Panchayati Raj institutions and urban bodies till December 31. On the basis of vacancies, voting will start from June 30 for the by-elections of 6 Zilla Parishad members, 22 Panchayat Samiti members, Sarpanch posts in 40 Gram Panchayats and Deputy Sarpanch in 37 Gram Panchayats and 325 Ward Panchs in 47 districts of Panchayati Raj institutions and 11 Ward Councillors, 2 Chairpersons, one Vice-Chairperson, Chairman and Deputy Chairman of 15 Urban Bodies in 11 districts in urban bodies.

State Election Commissioner Madhukar Gupta gave information in this regard in a press conference held at the Government Secretariat on Thursday. He informed that the by-election program was released by the Commission on June 7. According to the program, the nomination process for the by-election of Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti, Municipal Body Members, Sarpanch and Ward Panch has been completed on June 22.

Gupta said that 11 candidates are contesting for Zila Parishad members, 35 for Panchayat Samiti members, 106 for Sarpanch, 58 for Ward Panch and 18 for Nagar Nigam members. He said that one member in Ghantiyali Panchayat Samiti of Phalodi district, 8 Sarpanchs out of 39 Gram Panchayats, 237 Ward Panchs out of 325 wards and one Ward Councillor in Anupgarh Municipal Council and Chidawa Municipality have been elected unopposed.

The State Election Commissioner said that the Commission is working with full commitment to conduct fair, transparent and simple elections. He said that voting will be held on June 30 for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members, Sarpanchs and Panchs and member posts in urban bodies. In the same sequence, voting will be held on July 8 for the post of President in urban bodies and on July 1 for the post of Deputy Sarpanch.

It is noteworthy that after the decision of the court, the by-election in Gangaani Gram Panchayat of Bavdi Panchayat Samiti of Jodhpur district has been postponed.
