Vehicle sales in India increased by 10% in July

The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has released data showing that vehicle sales in India increased by 10% in July 2023, compared to July 2022. A total of 17,70,181 vehicles were sold in July 2023, up from 16,09,217 vehicles in July 2022.

Maruti Suzuki was the top-selling automaker in July 2023, with sales of 1,17,000 vehicles. Hero MotoCorp was the top-selling two-wheeler manufacturer, with sales of 3,61,000 vehicles. Bajaj Auto was the top-selling three-wheeler manufacturer, with sales of 31,453 vehicles. Tata Motors was the top-selling commercial vehicle manufacturer, with sales of 26,635 vehicles.

FADA President Manish Raj Singhania said that the increase in vehicle sales was due to a number of factors, including the festive season, the introduction of new models, and the availability of finance. However, he noted that sales were affected by the floods in some parts of the country.

Singhania said that he expects two-wheeler and passenger vehicle sales to pick up in August, due to the festive season. He also said that the three-wheeler category is seeing interest in electric vehicles.
