The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to reinstate the pension of former Test pace bowler Sarfaraz Nawaz.

This decision comes after his pension payments were suspended since January 2017 due to disciplinary actions taken against him by previous PCB administrations. These actions were a consequence of his violation of the Code of Conduct under the Players' Welfare Policy, which led to the discontinuation of his ex gratia payments.

Sarfaraz Nawaz's pension restoration follows his suspension resulting from making unsubstantiated defamatory remarks against former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi. The PCB has taken this step to address the matter after Nawaz's meeting with Zaka Ashraf, PCB's chief and head of the Cricket Management Committee. This meeting, held in Lahore, aimed to find a resolution for the suspended ex gratia payments issue.

It's worth noting that Nawaz's health has been a concern since a health scare he experienced in London last year. The reinstatement of his pension is a significant step taken by the PCB towards resolving the matter and ensuring fair treatment for former players.
