State level review meeting of Animal Husbandry Department organized, Government Secretary Dr. Samit Sharma gave instructions for the progress of Animal Husbandry Department

A state level review meeting was organized through video conferencing at the Government Secretariat on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Secretary Animal Husbandry Department Dr. Samit Sharma. In the meeting, veterinary officers of all the districts presented the progress report of their respective districts. On this occasion, Secretary to Government Dr. Samit Sharma directed the officers to ensure the operation of mobile veterinary unit in dual and hybrid mode as per the new action plan. According to the new action plan, along with providing veterinary services as per the calls received on the helpline number through each MVU, it has also been decided to organize a medical and health camp of one hour every day in the designated revenue village as per the pre-determined calendar every day, along with the work to be done by taking the services of departmental veterinary doctor / livestock assistant along with the MVU staff. He said that after treatment by MVU, the treatment slip should be made available to the animal keeper and the signature of the animal keeper should also be taken on one copy. Payment to the operating firms should also be ensured on time as per the rules. He said that at present, a lot of difference is being seen in the number of cases registered per MVU district wise, hence a review is required for the restoration of available vehicles.
While giving instructions to register Mangala animal insurance as much as possible, he said that our target is to insure 21 lakh animals, in this regard our progress is very slow. Therefore, this work has to be expedited by promoting it as much as possible and connecting more and more animal keepers to it. Dr. Sharma also reviewed the nationalized and departmental artificial insemination program. He told that Karauli district has achieved more success than the target in departmental artificial insemination, whereas Tonk district is lagging behind in this. He instructed all the districts to achieve the target in a timely manner.
He praised the Director of Animal Husbandry Department and his team for preventing the spread of avian influenza and other diseases in the state and congratulated them and said that the doctors of the department have done excellent work. He instructed all the officers that there should be no expiry of medicines at any level and the medicines should be used properly and timely.
To ensure effective execution of important works of the department, Dr Sharma has fixed 18 key performance indicators to monitor their progress at the district and division level. A total of 100 marks have been fixed by giving different weighted marks based on the importance of all these works. He informed that according to the KPI of December 2024, Churu, Jhunjhunu and Alwar stood first, second and third respectively, while Dungarpur stood last.
Dr Sharma informed that in the financial year 2024-25, 500 new veterinary sub-centres were opened in the state, while 103 veterinary sub-centres have been upgraded to veterinary hospitals, 51 veterinary hospitals to first class veterinary hospitals and 25 first class veterinary hospitals to multipurpose veterinary hospitals. He informed that a letter has also been written to the District Collectors for allotment of land for construction of buildings of new veterinary sub-centres. Dr Sharma directed all the districts to organize veterinary camps, animal welfare seminars, animal welfare public awareness rallies etc. at various levels during the animal welfare fortnight to be celebrated from January 14 to January 30 to create an environment for creating awareness among the general public towards animal welfare and prevention of animal cruelty. He once again urged everyone to contribute in taking the animal husbandry department to new heights.
All senior officials of the department including Animal Husbandry Director and Chief Executive Officer of RLDB Dr Anand Sejra, Financial Advisor of the Department Manoj Shandilya were present in this state level monthly review meeting. Joint Directors and Senior Veterinary Officers of all the districts of the state joined the meeting through video conferencing.
