Ministry of Women and Child Development launches series of National Webinars on recently enacted criminal laws

New Delhi - Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) in collaboration with Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) and Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) launched two national level webinars. The first of these webinars was held today, 21st June. These webinars are launched to discuss the provisions of recently enacted criminal laws: “Indian Justice Code”, “Indian Civil Defence Code”, and “Indian Evidence Act”, particularly their features relating to safety, welfare and security of women and children.

Today’s Hindi webinar was inaugurated by the Secretaries of MWCD, MoPR and MoRD. Following the inaugural address, experts from Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) conducted extensive sessions on key provisions of the new laws. Experts from MWCD examined in depth the positive impacts of these laws for women and children.

The event was attended by nearly 40 lakh stakeholders from across the country, including elected women representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions, women self-help groups, and diverse stakeholders from MWCD, MoRD and MoPR.

These webinars aim to raise awareness and wide dissemination of legal reforms in the society. The second webinar in English will be held on 25 June 2024, ensuring further dissemination and engagement among wider sections of the society.

These reformative laws are part of the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s broader vision to strengthen the legal framework to empower women and children in India. This initiative will not only increase legal awareness but will also bring about positive change at the grassroots level, improving the safety and well-being of women and children.
