Hockey India (HI) Announces Financial Aid for State and District Member Units

Hockey India has announced financial assistance for its district and state units in order to enhance the quality of tournaments conducted at the grassroots level. The national federation has provided a grant of Rs 2 lakh to each of its state member units as an initial contribution. This grant will help the district units meet their requirements and adhere to the necessary guidelines set by Hockey India.

In addition to the initial grant, Hockey India will allocate an additional Rs 1 lakh to the respective state member units upon successful completion of compliance by their district units. This additional funding aims to incentivize state units to effectively support and guide their district units.

Furthermore, Hockey India will grant Rs 10 lakh to each state member unit that successfully organizes state-level championships and ensures the smooth conduct of district championships throughout the year 2023. These tournaments must be conducted in accordance with the guidelines prescribed by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

The completion of these tournaments is a prerequisite for state member units to be eligible for the grant. Recognizing the crucial role played by district units in nurturing grassroots hockey, Hockey India will provide an additional incentive of Rs 20,000 to each district unit upon the successful completion of their compliances and organization of district championships.

Dilip Tirkey, the President of Hockey India, expressed his belief that this financial assistance will greatly benefit the districts and states in conducting tournaments. He highlighted that it is the first time a non-cricket National Sports Federation is directly providing financial support to district associations. This initiative demonstrates Hockey India's commitment to promoting hockey at the grassroots level.

The financial assistance provided by Hockey India will contribute to the growth and development of hockey across the country, encouraging participation at the grassroots level and ensuring the smooth organization of tournaments at the district and state levels.
