There are around 1985 wards in these cities and the government was preparing to conduct the elections by December. For this reason, orders were given to complete all the processes by 26 August. Planning is underway to conduct the elections of urban bodies and panchayats simultaneously.

Director of Autonomous Governance Department Suresh Ola said that work has started as per budget announcement. The work of delimitation and ward reservation of newly formed bodies has been stopped for now.

Work till applause

Applause was gained only by increasing the number of municipalities. Neither do these bodies have their own building nor complete staff and resources. Due to this, local people are not able to get the facilities related to the municipality.

Development will happen if elections are held

After the formation of the board, the municipality will have more employees and resources. These mainly include cleanliness, light, drainage, sewerage. New schemes can be brought immediately. Making master plan and zonal plan will become mandatory.

At present, the responsibility is with the Sarpanch

In all the newly formed municipalities, the responsibility as the Chairman has been given to the respective Sarpanch. The Sarpanch of the largest of these Gram Panchayats has been considered as the Chairman and the Ward Panchs as ward members.
